Sheffield Wednesday’s squad have worked in very difficult circumstances this season so far, but one has defied expectations, whilst another is yet to reach their peak with the Owls.
After three games of the 2025/26 Championship season, Sheffield Wednesday have notched their first point.
A gruelling away trip to North Wales saw Sheffield Wednesday draw with Wrexham, in a game where the Owls were fully deserving of a win, but missed out after Charlie McNeill failed to convert his opportunity in the dying seconds of the game.
Expectations were set at Sheffield Wednesday struggling to compete at this level after Dejphon Chansiri purged a large majority of the numbers in the squad, but the Owls have gone head-to-head with Leicester City, and now Wrexham, but this time they have a deserved point to show for it.
Every player has worn the famous blue & white of Sheffield Wednesday with pride this season, with one in particular showing his timeless quality.

Barry Bannan has starred for Sheffield Wednesday so far this season
For the past decade, Sheffield Wednesday have always been able to rely on the brilliance of Barry Bannan, and even at the age of 35, protocol is the exact same.
The Scotsman has gone above and beyond after he signed his new contract at Sheffield Wednesday this summer. After putting in a complete performance in the away trip to Leicester City, which was followed up by a phenomenal showing against Wrexham, the midfielder controlled the game and scored a goal to show for it.
Bannan was crucial for Sheffield Wednesday to turn the tide against Wrexham and record an extraordinary comeback against a side that has been significantly financially backed this summer.
Like a fine wine, Bannan appears to improve every week, and his quality continues to be make-or-break for Sheffield Wednesday.

Henrik Pedersen will want to push Max Lowe to the next level
When looking at players who have not quite hit the heights, it is difficult to pin that label on any player in the current circumstances.
However, one man who may not quite be playing at the peak of his powers is Max Lowe.
The Sheffield Wednesday defender made the crucial decision to stay at the club this season, despite initially handing in his notice to the club amid uncertainty on whether the chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, could pay the players.
Lowe has been described as a Sheffield Wednesday player in their ‘prime’, and in a team that is having to rely on a number of youngsters, it is expected that, like Bannan, the more experienced players are able to stand up and lead the way.
The Owls full-back has had a tricky time against both Stoke City and Wrexham, the latter of which he struggled in the first half against Ryan Longman, but there is still plenty for the defender to build on.
