Three Leeds United players who may be fearing for their future after Daniel Farke update

Daniel Farke should be rejoicing in the promotion celebrations and looking ahead to a campaign in the Premier League, but instead, the Leeds United boss faces an uncertain future.

Despite guiding Leeds to their record points total in the Championship, even beating Marcelo Bielsa, Daniel Farke could be sacked by the Whites following doubts over the German’s top-flight credentials.

Farke won just six of his 49 Premier League games in charge of Norwich City, seeing his struggles amplified at the top level of English football.

After being promoted on Monday, Farke slammed the Leeds owners for not backing him in the January transfer window when Sheffield United and Burnley strengthened.

This disharmony could impact the club’s decision on whether to sack him, so with that said, here are three players who will be fearing for their future.

Patrick Bamford

The gap between the Championship and the Premier League is already huge, and that means Leeds will need to bolster their squad, particularly in forward areas.

Joel Piroe is expected to stay at Elland Road beyond the summer, but with the Whites looking to sign a striker, Farke’s potential departure from the club could spell the end of Patrick Bamford’s career in West Yorkshire.

Bamford has divided the Leeds fanbase throughout his time at the club but after starting zero matches in the Championship this term, the 31-year-old is likely to be on the chopping block.

Once the scorer of 17 Premier League goals in the 2020/21 campaign, the Englishman is no longer up to the level and needs shipping out this summer.

Manor Solomon

Manor Solomon has been magnificent since joining on loan from Tottenham. The Israel international has registered 20 goal involvements in the Championship while producing some stellar performances from the left wing.

Leeds are willing to pay £10m for Solomon, who wants to clinch a permanent transfer to Elland Road, though a Farke departure could throw a spanner in the works.

Farke was the one who initially brought him to the club and has since built a connection with the 25-year-old. However, if a new manager comes in, he could dismiss the link completely and bring in his own targets.

Illan Meslier

Once a highly-rated goalkeeper at Leeds, Illan Meslier has damaged his reputation with a comedy of errors between the sticks this term, including howlers in the defeat to Sunderland and draw against Hull City.

It’s been a disastrous campaign for the goalkeeper, with Karl Darlow replacing Meslier in the last five games and doing an outstanding job.

Farke used to be a big fan of the 25-year-old, but he’s almost certain to depart this summer, and the chances of him leaving would increase if the German was sacked.

Leeds were linked with a surprise move for James Trafford at the beginning of April, although they’ve now turned their attention to Sam Johnstone as they prepare for life without Meslier.
