In an EFL Analysis exclusive we can reveal another player on Birmingham City’s transfer wishlist for the summer as they plot a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Birmingham City are heading for the Championship next season after absolutely dominating League One and storming to the league title.

There was never any doubt, really, and Birmingham raced to a record points tally, not just for the third tier but as the highest haul ever recorded in the EFL.

They won’t be stopping there, though. The Blues, with the financial backing of Tom Brady and co., and eyeing up a promotion challenge in 2025/26 and look set to be ambitious in the transfer market this summer to attain that goal.

Here, EFL Analysis has exclusive information as to one of their latest transfer targets, and Middlesbrough fans may be a little bit disappointed.

Mark Travers is on Birmingham City’s wishlist this summer

Discussing Birmingham’s plans for the summer with our transfer expert Graeme Bailey, we understand the Blues are keen on Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers, who has been on loan at Middlesbrough for the second half of the current campaign.

Apparently, Birmingham want a new number one goalkeeper with a view to assembling a squad capable of competing for promotion in the Championship next season.

Travers is just one player Birmingham like in that department, but the 25-year-old is eager to become a first-choice goalkeeper and is unlikely to stay at Bournemouth when he returns there after his loan spell at the Riverside.

There are thought to be a number of clubs looking at Travers already, with Birmingham alerted to his impending availability.

Meanwhile, Boro are unlikely to retain Travers, as they have Sol Brynn returning from injury in the near future.

The news will be a blow to Birmingham’s current number one, Ryan Allsop, who won the League One Golden Glove award last week after keeping 21 clean sheets in 38 league games.

What else do we know about Birmingham City’s transfer plans?

One thing we know is that Birmingham City will be aggressive in the transfer market, which has their Championship rivals fearful already.

Whether they’ll become one of the highest-spending Championship teams or not remains to be seen, but we firmly expect Birmingham to spend enough to at least be among the promotion conversation next season.

We are told Birmingham are pushing to sign Kwame Poku from Peterborough United on a free transfer, though they face competition from Rangers.

There’s also set to be a tug-of-war between Birmingham and Wrexham for Charlie Savage, with the Reading ace mooted for bigger things next year.
