Leicester City call off move for £10m star that Marti Cifuentes would ‘love to keep’

Leicester City are expected to be active on transfer deadline day.

Only one player has signed for the Foxes this summer, 38-year-old Asmir Begovic on a free, while a number of faces have departed.

There are still more to come with Bilal El Khannouss signing for Stuttgart on loan while there may be an arrival before the deadline.

Striker Julian Carranza could join the Foxes on loan from Feyenoord and another striker, as well as more attackers to bolster Marti Cifuentes’ options.

In order to do that, money needs to be raised, but one player will not be helping out with that.

Patson Daka’s Real Betis transfer breaks down

The Telegraph’s transfer expert John Percy has revealed that a move involving Leicester’s Patson Daka to Real Betis has broken down.

Percy dropped the news that any transfer between the two is off for now after Betis failed to reach the £10m asking price the Foxes want.

Daka joined Leicester in 2021 for £23m and was initially seen as the long-term successor to Jamie Vardy, however, he has never hit the ground running and is now set to remain at the King Power Stadium.

A surprise to see Marti Cifuentes willing to sanction Patson Daka deal

Hearing news of a possible departure for Daka will be a surprise to everyone, especially as Cifuentes is a fan of the Leicester striker.

Before the start of the season, EFL Analysis revealed that Cifuentes wanted to keep Daka as an option at the club, but, after learning that Mihailo Ivanovic is available for a deal totalling £12m, selling Daka could help fund the signing of the Millwall striker.

Ivanovic has been linked with Leicester at various stages of the transfer window, but it seems like a stretch for it to happen.
