Try as they might, Wrexham can’t sign everyone, and Millwall are now moving in to land one of the Red Dragons’ latest transfer targets.
So far this summer, we’ve seen ten new Wrexham summer signings, and it sounds like the Championship new boys are not done yet.
We know Wrexham have bid £7.5m for Will Smallbone at Southampton as Phil Parkinson looks to add another midfielder to his roster.
However, one man on his shortlist, Andy Irving, now looks set to go elsewhere, with Millwall waiting in the wings for the West Ham star.

Millwall want to sign Andy Irving from West Ham
As per a report from Alan Nixon on Patreon, Millwall are looking to nab the Scottish midfielder from local neighbours and fierce rivals West Ham.
It’s said Irving can leave the club for a fee of £3.5m, but he’s recently rejected the move to Wrexham for “personal reasons.”
Apparently, Millwall will possibly match that offer, or will attempt to take Irving on loan for the season. If it’s the latter, West Ham are keen for there to be a permanent deal at the end of the loan spell.
While fans of both clubs have long despised one another and moves have been “difficult in the past” it sounds like this is one that could get the go ahead from all sides.

Millwall squad will be well-placed for promotion push
In our Championship preview for 2025/26, we pinned Millwall down as potential dark horses for a promotion push. Given their business in this window, we feel even more strongly about that now.
With six new Millwall signings already, including the likes of Josh Coburn, Massimo Luongo, and Alfie Doughty, Alex Neil has recruited wisely.
The Lions have made an impressive start to the season, the players look to be working well together and have firmly bought into Neil’s style of play.
We suspect there are three more areas Millwall need to improve before deadline day, but securing Irving in that central midfield spot would go a long way to ensuring they’re in the promotion chase come the end of the season.
