We are now less than a week away from deadline day, so catch up with the latest rumours and reports with our new Championship transfer round-up.

It’s been an incredibly busy and exciting summer for clubs in the Championship, with big signings and sales for a number of teams ahead of the new season.

Now that we’re three games into the 2025/26 Championship campaign, some teams like Wrexham and Sheffield United are starting to panic and think about making more signings.

Others, like Coventry City and Stoke City will be happy with what they’ve already got and will be desperate not to lose any of their star men ahead of deadline day.

Keep up with all the ins and outs from the last few days in our latest Championship transfer round-up.

Milan van Ewijk to leave Coventry City

After Coventry’s record-breaking win over QPR, it would be easy to understand if Frank Lampard said he was done shopping this summer. However, that’s not the case.

Lampard hinted he wants more signings when speaking after that game, and there’s even talk of Ben Chilwell making a dramatic switch to the Sky Blues.

Meanwhile, after months of speculation, Milan van Ewijk is to leave Coventry in a £10.4m deal. He will join Wolfsburg imminently.

We do know that Coventry want Charlie Hughes, but with Hull City standing firm, it’s thought the Sky Blues will move on.

Wrexham desperate to land new midfielder

Wrexham were left disappointed at the weekend, throwing away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday. Since then, OPTA’s supercomputer predicted Wrexham will get relegated this season.

It’s not surprising, then, that Phil Parkinson is looking to add to his squad. Reports claim the Red Dragons are in talks with Jordan James, the former Birmingham City player.

They’ve also made a ‘crazy’ £7.5m bid for Will Smallbone. Southampton fans can’t believe the price tag, but we’ll wait and see if that move comes to fruition.

Derby County close to two new signings

Derby County have popped up in our Championship transfer round-up time and time again, and they’re nowhere near finished.

One story that’s gone on for a while is Derby’s pursuit of Max Johnston, but a deal has now been agreed. The Sturm Graz full-back is set to become one of the highest-paid players in John Eustace’s squad.

Meanwhile, we also expect Lewis Travis to officially sign in as a Derby player in the next 24-48 hours. It’s thought the Blackburn Rovers man has already completed his medical.

The Rams are also plotting a shock move for Sergi Canos. The former Brentford man is currently plying his trade for Valencia, but is also wanted by LA FC.

Speaking of Brentford, the Premier League club are thought to be plotting a £3.5m move for Jacob Zetterstrom. It remains to be seen whether Derby would be tempted to sell their number one goalkeeper, though.

Championship transfer round-up: QPR recruit, Leicester battle Celtic, Blackburn boost

After QPR were pasted by Coventry at the weekend, it’s no surprise that they’ve signed new players. First of all, Isaac Hayden has rejoined QPR on a free transfer. They’ve also signed Rhys Norrington-Davies on loan from Sheffield United.

Speaking of the Blades, they’ve got Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond on trial this week. Ruben Selles desperately needs reinforcements, and it seems he’s going for experienced heads now.

It seems Celtic will have plenty of influence on the transfers we see (or don’t see) in the Championship over the next week. Firstly, Calvin Stengs is a target for Leicester City, but Celtic may swoop for the Feyenoord man if they qualify for the Champions League.

Celtic are also battling Norwich City for Vinnie Leonard. The young Irish defender is only 17 but is attracting big attention already.

Blackburn have been boosted by Dom Hyam’s decision to stay at the club amid Watford links. Rovers have also just signed Ryoya Morishita from Legia Warsaw in a deal worth just under £2m.

To wrap up our Championship transfer round-up, it’s worth noting Ipswich have missed out on Philip Billing. He’s chosen to return to Denmark, which could open the door for another Hayden Hackney bid.
