Daniel Farke celebrated his achievement with Leeds United after leading them back to the Premier League, but doubts over his future were raised.

Although Farke broke Marcelo Bielsa’s points record at Elland Road following promotion, speculation over his future emerged last week.

There were suggestions that Leeds are concerned over Farke’s record in the Premier League with Norwich City, where he won just six of his 49 games in charge.

Leeds icon Stuart Dallas thinks sacking Farke would be ‘harsh’, and that is a sentiment shared by many, as the Whites close in on a century of Championship points.

Ahead of Leeds’ final day trip to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, the German boss addressed the media and offered his verdict on the negative speculation.

Daniel Farke hits back at the Leeds United doubters

It’s the harsh reality of modern day football that a manager is put under immediate pressure even after delivering promotion.

That is a problem currently facing Farke, who ultimately deserves his chance to manage Leeds in the Premier League after guiding them to glory, with the 48-year-old now sending a defiant message to his doubters.

“Nothing. I don’t feel the need to defend myself,” he said when asked about his ability to keep Leeds in the top-flight.

“I don’t want to come across arrogant. If someone is doubting or thinks I’m not the best manager for Leeds United then so be it. I’m just convinced in what I want to do.”

Leeds or Burnley will set a Championship record this weekend, with one of those sides becoming the best second-place team in the history of the competition.

The Yorkshire side are currently in the driving seat to win the title, and a win against an already relegated Plymouth Argyle would put the gloss on a fantastic season.

Farke issues clear demand ahead of summer transfer window

For Leeds and Farke to succeed in the top-fight, the club will need to conduct a flawless recruitment strategy.

With the gap between the Championship and the Premier League increasing massively, those sides winning promotion from the second tier don’t stand a chance these days, unless they make themselves hard to beat and sign the right players.

The Whites are being linked with multiple stars before the window even opens, with Leeds eyeing a £10 million transfer for Sean Longstaff and promising goalkeeper Finn Dahmen to replace Illan Meslier.

As revealed in Thursday’s press conference, Farke has already had meetings with the club’s hierarchy about the processes set to be carried out this summer, and the manager is confident of turning Leeds into an established Premier League side.

“We must get the structures, processes and decisions right. I’m optimistic… I want to make sure we become an established Premier League side. We need a top-class summer,” he said.

Time will tell as to whether Farke is the right man for the job but an incredible summer of business will at least give him every chance of achieving success.
