If you’re desperate for more Championship transfer news while the window is closed, you’ve come to the right place.

It may be months until the January transfer window opens, but teams in the Championship are gearing up for more activity already.

While Sheffield United are dealing with a change of manager already, their rivals Sheffield Wednesday have bigger problems to contend with.

Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers are eyeing up new targets, Birmingham City have signed a youngster, and Wrexham could be about to make a big change.

Championship transfer latest: Sheffield Wednesday hit with fresh embargo

We begin our Championship transfer round-up with one team who won’t be making any signings for a long time. Sheffield Wednesday now have a full transfer embargo from the EFL.

That’s based on two issues. One is Regulation 16.21.8, which pertains to Future Financial Information, while the second is P&S Rule 2.10.3, relating to Secure Funding. Sounds like Dejphon Chansiri is either unable or unwilling to prove he has the funds to keep the club operating.

As a result, the Owls have failed in a bid to sign Liam Cooper on a free transfer. The former Leeds United man was lined up to join, but is no longer allowed.

Blackburn Rovers chase Wigan Athletic star

Blackburn Rovers are keen to sign Tobias Brenan from Wigan Athletic. The youngster has emerged as a top talent this season, with Swansea and Preston North End also interested.

Meanwhile, former Blackburn man Tyrhys Dolan is thriving in Spain. His recent displays for Espanyol have led to comparisons to Diego Maradona and Ronaldinho. High praise indeed!

Another ex-Blackburn star has made headlines, too. Callum Brittain revealed why he joined Middlesbrough from Rovers after one of the biggest Championship transfer sagas of the summer.

Chris Wilder discusses Sheffield United signings

The news in the second tier has been dominated by Chris Wilder’s return to Sheffield United. Now, the man himself has been talking about the new players he’s inherited, while also revealing the Blades tried to sign Chiedozie Ogbene years ago.

Wilder has been sorting his backroom staff this week, too. Alan Knill is back, while Gary McSheffrey is expected to be promoted from the Under-21 setup. Mickey Collins is also stepping up to the first-team coaching staff.

Meanwhile, we got the inside scoop on how the Sheffield United players feel about Wilder coming back. Let’s just say, they’re pretty happy, especially Gus Hamer.

Championship transfer round-up: Birmingham City’s new boy, Leo Scienza regret, Phil Parkinson pressure

Now we wrap up our Championship transfer recap with a few of the other stories from around the league.

First of all, Heidenheim manager Frank Schmidt is gutted Leo Scienza left for Southampton. He now fears his team might get relegated without their star man.

Elsewhere, Birmingham City have signed Ryan Allsop’s son, Charlie. He’s also a goalkeeper, but don’t expect him to challenge his dad for the number one shirt just yet. Charlie is joining the Blues’ academy squad.

Meanwhile, Wrexham are considering sacking Phil Parkinson. It’s not been the best start to the season for the Red Dragons, and the hierarchy are ready to assess their options if they see another poor display.
