Championship transfer round-up: Patrick Bamford finally chooses next club

Sheffield United were linked with Patrick Bamford earlier this week. However, the free agent didn’t stay on their radar for long. That’s because Bamford chose to join Getafe instead.

Meanwhile, former Blades prospect Tyler Smith is being eyed by Burton Albion. He was released by Bradford City this summer and could help the League One strugglers in their battle against relegation.

As for one player who left Bramall Lane this summer, we hear Feyenoord couldn’t believe the deal for Anel Ahmedhodzic was so cheap. Given his impressive form in the Netherlands, that figures.

Pierce Charles price set by Sheffield Wednesday

Premier League clubs were knocked back in the summer amid £2m bids, but Pierce Charles does have a new price tag. It’s thought the Sheffield Wednesday ace would be sold if bids of £4m come in January.

A player who has been impressing for the Owls is Harry Amass, who got rave reviews from EFL experts this weekend. The Man Utd loanee was brilliant in the win over Portsmouth and could be key to Wednesday’s survival hopes.

Meanwhile, off the pitch, Dejphon Chansiri faces a very difficult week ahead. And a very expensive one, too. The Owls chairman needs to repay over £7m in stadium debts by the end of the month, and also has wages to pay again.

Sam Morsy leaves Kuwait SC after two months

One player we didn’t expect to see in our Championship transfer round-up anytime soon is Sam Morsy. The former Ipswich Town captain moved to Kuwait SC in the summer on a free transfer, but Morsy has now terminated his contract. The twist is, he can’t sign for a new club until January.

Meanwhile, new signing Chuba Akpom has asked Ipswich fans to be patient. He compared the club to PSG’s team of superstars, who took time to gel together, and thinks the same can happen at Portman Road.

Another player who signed for the Tractor Boys this summer, Darnell Furlong, has been discussing the ambition of Ipswich Town. It’s the main reason he left West Brom, and he thinks Ipswich can get promoted despite a tough start to the season.

Championship transfer round-up: Adam Idah, Birmingham City, Bilal El Khannouss, Albert Adomah

We conclude our Championship transfer round-up with some of the best stories from the rest of the second tier.

Details of Adam Idah’s contract at Swansea City have emerged, with suggestions the former Celtic man is on £40,000 per week.

Werder Bremen icon Clemens Fritz has discussed Marvin Ducksch’s move to Birmingham City, explaining why the German club had to sell. The Blues got a bargain at £1.7m due to Ducksch’s contract expiring next year.

Bilal El Khannouss has spoken about his time in Germany since leaving Leicester City this summer. The Moroccan has admitted he’s finding it tough in the Bundesliga.

And finally, we have an exclusive story regarding Middlesbrough. Turns out, Boro tried to sign Albert Adomah again a few years back, after he struggled to make an impact at Aston Villa.
