A lot can happen in the second tier in the space of 24 hours, so we’ve wrapped up all the latest Championship news into one tidy package for you.

In truth, the past weekend’s results in the Championship were a lot more in-keeping with our score predictions prior to the games.

Wins for Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield United were huge for the respective teams, while the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, West Brom and Southampton were important, too.

Meanwhile, a decision was finally made on the Blackburn Rovers vs Ipswich replay. Turns out both teams will have to start from zero again on that one and play a full match.

Now, as we head into the first set of midweek fixtures of the season, let’s take a look at the latest Championship news from across the league.

Championship news round-up: The latest on Sheffield United and Chris Wilder

Sheffield United picked up their first win of the season on Saturday. That prompted fans to hail Ben Mee as the signing of the summer. It would seem Chris Wilder agrees, too, with the Blades boss praising Ruben Selles for bringing in Mee.

That win also saw Opta’s supercomputer improve its prediction for Sheffield United. It’s not much, but the Blades are now tipped to finish 15th. That said we’re sure they’ll want to aim higher.

Sheffield United are facing Southampton next, and we looked back on Wilder’s decision to snub his boyhood club in favour of the Saints as a youngster.

Meanwhile, in a different sport, Team Europe won the Ryder Cup. Funnily enough, Matt Fitzpatrick is a huge Sheffield United fan.

Middlesbrough’s secret to success revealed

We’ve all been impressed by Middlesbrough’s surge to the top of the Championship table. But, while Rob Edwards deserves a lot of credit for that, it’s actually Kieran Scott who earned the most praise from our Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Up next for Boro is a clash with fellow pace-setters Stoke City. Edwards has highlighted two Stoke players he fears, but can Mark Robins get the better of his opponent?

Meanwhile, Boro’s new signing David Strelec has been hailed as one of the best in Europe. That said, the praise did come from his own agent.

Sheffield Wednesday players to go unpaid again

Another month, and another failure by Dejphon Chansiri to pay his players. We understand some non-playing staff will get SOME money today, but players are unlikely to get anything anytime soon.

Speaking of, the Sheffield Wednesday mascot has spoken on how tough things are at the club. The bloke in the Ozzy the Owl suit says the issues are taking a ‘real toll’ on everyone associated with Wednesday.

It’s not all bad, though. At least loan signing Harry Amass is getting praise across the board. His teammate Jamal Lowe was buzzing with his latest contributions in the 1-1 draw versus QPR.

Championship news: Charlton’s new man, Ipswich Town hero, Blackburn Rovers request

Let’s wrap up this Championship news round-up, shall we? Former Norwich City man Onel Hernandez has signed for Charlton Athletic. You might think ‘Who cares?’ but then you remember he’ll face Ipswich Town and Marcelino Nunez soon and remember that he threatened to “break” Nunez, so that’ll be fun.

Speaking of Ipswich, their fans think Jens Cajuste is the best midfielder in the league now. While Sam Morsy has said he would return to England after leaving Kuwait, it sounds like the Tractor Boys don’t need him.

Blackburn are not happy about having to play Ipswich again, and Rovers have asked to be given a goal to make it more fair. Kieran McKenna has rubbished that idea, though.

Finally, as Coventry City prepare for a tricky trip to Millwall, Frank Lampard will hope his prediction is completely wrong and that the Lions will not make the play-offs. Or, at least, he’ll hope they drop points in this particular game.
